After a long and hectic week full of school work and errands we like to spend our weekends together having fun. Most of the time we break out a board game and have a family game night. The problem that we run into with that is that most of our games are not toddler friendly (more for older kids). Our two youngest had to sit on the sidelines and watch us play. I was ecstatic when Goliath Games reached out to me on Twitter and offered to send over a bundle of their most popular toddler friendly games. Let me tell you about the games that they sent.
My two toddlers got a kick out of this game. I guess if it involves dogs and poop it’s a win, lol. It is suitable for ages four and up and 2-4 people can play at a time.
- 1 Dog
- 1 Leash
- 1 Bone
- 1 Spinner
- 2 Food Pieces
- 11 Fart Tokens
- 1 Shovel
- 1 Storage Box
How To Play
Using your finger, carefully push 1 piece of food deep into the doggie’s mouth. Next,
place the bone firmly into the dog’s mouth. The bone stays inside of the doggie’s
mouth during play. The youngest player starts the game by spinning the spinner. Whenever the doggie’s
bottom lands on a space, that player follows the instructions on that space. Once the action is completed, that player’s turn is over and the player on the left spins
the spinner. When the doggie goes doo, the player who squeezed the leash last picks up the mess
with the shovel and collects a token. The first person with three tokens wins the game.
ok, I admit that I giggled when the food pellet came flying out of the doggies butt. I have a video but I will spare you that trauma. It is a fun game in all honesty and just being able to have my two youngest participate means the world to me. The actual game set-up was a little stressful and their si still one piece that I have no idea what it is for. The manual is a little lacking on explanations. I had fun, my kids had fun and that is what matters.
Take the treats without making a peep with Greedy Granny! Granny loves her sweets, but she’s not so great at sharing. As she snoozes, spin the treat wheel to see which sweet to swipe. Be quiet…one wrong move will wake Granny up and send her teeth flying! Be the first player to collect one of each of her treats to win the game! For 2 to 4 players, ages 4 and up
- 1 Greedy Granny in an Armchair (2 Pieces)
- 1 Set of Granny’s Teeth (1 Piece)
- 1 Treat Wheel
- 12 Treats
How To Play
The youngest player goes first by spinning the treat wheel. If
the spinner lands on green, the player attempts to sneak a treat
away from Granny. Pay attention to the number on the spinner
section – this tells the player how many times you must press
the button to the side of Granny’s chair.
If the spinner lands on purple, the player must put a treat back
(if they have one) and press the button the number of times
indicated on the spinner. If the player lands on a symbol, the
player misses a turn. If the player lands on a symbol, the
player may take one treat from any one player who has a treat.
Collect one of each treat. If Granny wakes up, the player who
woke her must place all of their treats back on her tray. Once
the player’s treats have been returned, reset Granny and the
Very easy to assemble, that is very important when you have toddlers. Had a little problem stacking all of the treats into granny’s tray, they kept falling out. My two youngest thought it was hilarious when granny’s teeth came flying out of her mouth, one time they shot clear across the room. Everybody had a blast playing, even the oldest two. Definitely a winner.
Catch The Fox
Uh oh – the Fox is in the hen house! This greedy fox is snapping up the chickens and stuffing them into his pockets. But when there are too many chickens, his pants will fall down and the chickens will escape! Roll the die to see how many chickens to add into the fox’s pockets, and push his head one time. Before you know it, the fox will lose his pants and the chickens will roll everywhere! Rescue the chickens and return them to your chicken coop. Be the first player to fill up your coop to win! Can you Catch the Fox? For 2 to 4 players. Ages 4 and up.
- 1 Fox and his pants
- 21 Chickens
- 4 Chicken Coops
- 1 Die
- 1 Sticker Sheet
- Complete Instructions
How To Play
The player who makes the best clucking sound goes first.
The player rolls the die and places as many chickens as indicated on the die into the Fox’s
pockets. S/he may choose any pocket to put the chickens into.
Before ending his/her turn, the player must firmly press the Fox’s head one time,
until it clicks.
If nothing happens, play follows the pecking order and continues to the left.
Watch out! Since the Fox is so greedy, he will end up losing his pants! When this happens,
you must save the chickens as fast as you can by scooping them up one-by-one and placing
them safely in your chicken coop. But watch out for FOWL play—you can only use one hand
to rescue the chickens!
If the Fox loses his pants and no one has a full chicken coop, keep the chickens you have
collected in this round, and play again until at least one player has a full coop.
Each chicken coop has 5 empty spaces.
The first player to fill their chicken coop is declared the winner – you rule the roost!
Out of all three games I think that this one was our favorite. The set-up was a breeze and the rules and game play were simple enough for even my three year old to be able to enjoy the game. My four year old caught a case of the giggles when the fox lost his pants, exposing his chicken covered underpants! The rounds were fairly quick and everyone had tons of fun, even my husband.
